Faridkot- In a major breakthrough against drug trafficking, the police have seized a record quantity of heroin and arrested two persons. During the raid, the police recovered 12 kg 100 grams of heroin, which is believed to have been smuggled from Pakistan through a drone.
SSP Dr. Pragya Jain said during a press conference that, “Accordingly, this operation began when, during a checkpost set up by Sadar Police Station Head Inspector Rajesh Kumar, on the information received from an informer, the police came to know about a house in Jhudiwala village, where drug smugglers were suspected to be active.”
Acting immediately on the information, the police team raided the spot and arrested two suspects – Sukhpreet Singh of Jhudiwala village and Kader Singh of Ferozepur district. During the search, the officers recovered a large cache of heroin.
Dr. Jain said that the arrested persons had allegedly ordered a consignment of heroin from Pakistan across the border through drones. The drug was stored in the house of the drug dealer and was ready to be distributed further.
The police intercepted it before it reached other parties. The SSP said that this is the biggest seizure of heroin in a single day in the district so far. The suspects have been taken into police custody and further investigation is being done to trace their network.
