Hoshiarpur- Under the "Anti-Dengue" campaign, the Health Department Hoshiarpur today conducted various anti-dengue activities across the district under the guidance of Civil Surgeon Hoshiarpur Dr. Seema Garg and under the leadership of District Epidemiologist Dr. Jagdeep Singh. Under these activities, today in Hoshiarpur city, members of the anti-larva team under the leadership of Dr. Jagdeep Singh inspected 1826 houses and shops in different areas.
During this, in the containers of 55 houses where mosquito larvae were found, the mosquito larvae were destroyed on the spot. Where water could not be drained, larvicide was sprayed. During this, people were also made aware. Dr. Jagdeep Singh said that so far 48 cases of dengue and 7 cases of chikungunya have been reported in Hoshiarpur district.
But after heavy rains, it is necessary to take some precautions to prevent mosquito-borne diseases and prevent the growth of mosquitoes. For this, it is important that water is not allowed to accumulate in any type of containers in and around the houses and water containers must be cleaned and dried at least once a week. Because dengue mosquitoes breed in standing water in containers and do not breed in other water sources like drains, gutters, and standing water on the road.
Therefore, the water in the containers should be emptied and dried at least once a week and they should be kept under cover so that water like rain etc. does not accumulate in them. He said that by taking small precautions, we can avoid diseases like dengue, malaria and chikungunya. Dengue fever testing and treatment is free in all government hospitals. In case of any kind of fever, only paracetamol tablets should be taken and the nearest health center should be tested and treated immediately.
He said that during the survey activities, information is also being given to the people about the prevention and cure of dengue, because unless people themselves are aware of it and pay attention to the cleanliness of stagnant water sources, then dengue cannot be prevented.
