District Administration launches free driving classes for girls

Nawanshahr- Taking a significant initiative towards promoting women empowerment and self-reliance, the District Administration, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar led by Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Dhiman has launched free driving classes for girls under the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign.

Launched in collaboration with Pukhraj Driving School, this visionary programme aims to equip young girls with a vital skill. This will not only boost their confidence but will also open doors to new economic opportunities for them.
This significant initiative is a testimony to the proactive approach of the District Administration in promoting gender equality and economic independence. By imparting the necessary skills to young girls, the administration is not only promoting self-reliance but also paving the way for a more inclusive and progressive society.
The training vehicle was flagged off today under the leadership of Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Avneet Kaur and SDM Nawanshahr Dr. Akshita Gupta, marking the official launch of the programme. Speaking on the occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Avneet Kaur said that mobility is a key factor in women empowerment and this free driving training will help young women gain confidence to live their lives better with financial independence and greater autonomy.
SDM Nawanshahr Dr Akshita Gupta emphasised on the occasion that this initiative is not only about teaching driving skills but also about breaking social barriers and enabling women to get equal opportunities in all spheres of life. She said that in the first phase 16 girls will undergo professional driving training and the administration will encourage more young women to come forward and take advantage of this empowerment initiative.
ATO Ramandeep Singh, District Programme Officer Jagroop Singh, Punjab Good Governance Fellow Asmita Parmar, DCPO Kanchan Arora, CDPO Davinder Kaur, CDPO Mr Puran Pankaj Sharma and women and children receiving training were present on the occasion.
