
Lamrin Tech Skills University Punjab hosted the first-of-its-kind 54th National Annual Convention of ISTE for two days.
Hoshiarpur- Lamrin Tech Skills University Punjab organized a historic two-day National Convention that focused on shaping India’s skilled workforce to address the global skill shortage. Themed “Vision 2047: Transforming the Education System to Make India the Skill Capital of the World”, the event brought together policymakers, educationists, industry leaders and students to discuss strategies to align education with the demands of global industry.

Inaugurating the Convention, Punjab Government Finance Minister S. Harpal Singh Cheema stressed on the urgent need to transform the education system through skill-based education. He appreciated Lamrin Tech Skills University Punjab for its significant role in empowering the youth of Punjab and India with industry-relevant skills.
Addressing the gathering virtually, Dr. V.K. Pal, Member, NITI Aayog (at the rank of Union Minister of State), Government of India, stressed the importance of a strong education infrastructure in driving national economic growth. He stressed that aligning education systems with world-class standards is the key to empowering Indian youth for international success. Dr. Pal also chaired the VC’s conclave.
Prof. T.G. Seetharam, Chairman, AICTE discussed the efforts of AICTE in improving technical education policies to bridge the skill gap in India. He appreciated the efforts of LTSU in bringing all stakeholders on one platform. He encouraged universities to focus on skill development and introduce new models and programmes within an appropriate framework.
Delivering the welcome address and setting the context for the conclave, Dr. Sandeep Singh Kaura, Chancellor, LTSU Punjab highlighted the participation of over 5,000 delegates, including Vice-Chancellors, faculty members and students from across the country, to develop a future-ready workforce.
Dr. Pratap Desai, President, ISTE, highlighted the need for collaboration between academic institutions and industry partners to equip students with the skills required in emerging markets.
Prominent industry leaders also shared insights on the evolving educational landscape. Mr. Sanjeev Mehta, Consultant and Head, Program Development, IBM elaborated on the need for technology-based learning approaches to prepare students for the future job market. Mr. Pawan Bagheria, President, Global Human Resources, IT and Administration, Education, Tata Technologies, addressed the growing demand for skilled professionals and the importance of aligning the curriculum with industry needs.
The conference featured a prestigious awards ceremony, where the ISTE Fellow Awards were presented by the Chief Guest and other dignitaries. The distinguished honorees included Dr. Atul Vyas, Registrar, IIT New Delhi, Dr. Rajul K. Gajjar, Vice Chancellor, Gujarat Technological University, Ahmedabad, Dr. Sudarsh ??Kumar, Professor, Aerospace Engineering, IIT Mumbai, Professor Pawan Panjwai, Managing Director and Head of Engineering, BNY Chennai, and Dr. C.K. Subbaraya, Registrar, Adichunchangiri University, Karnataka.
A major attraction of the conference was a series of special conferences, including the Vice Chancellor’s Conference, which focused on reversing the brain drain by promoting global workforce development through strategic university collaborations, the Faculty Conference that explored interdisciplinary education as a means of empowering communities and promoting sustainability, and the Students’ Conference, which included project exhibitions, poster presentations and an Educator’s Conference, in which principals of various schools in the region came together to discuss future skill requirements on school-level education to enhance employability.
The event also featured several exciting activities, including a national discussion, promoting technological innovation, cultural competitions celebrating India’s diversity, exhibitions showcasing cutting-edge projects, industry trends and publications, and a grand cultural evening with lively performances by students from various states.
This National Conference and Youth Skill Festival 2025 successfully laid the foundation for actionable strategies to strengthen academia-industry partnerships, integrate interdisciplinary learning and leverage advanced technologies. The event will play a significant role in realizing India’s Vision 2047, transforming the country into a global hub of skilled professionals. University Pro Chancellor Dr Parvinder Kaur, Dr Chawla VC, Dr Mahajan, Dr Dhami, S Bajwa and other key officials were present on the occasion.
