Farmers rejected the new land pooling policy of the government during a gathering held at Kurdi village.

S.A.S. Nagar, June 19- The Punjab government is preparing to acquire 6,285 acres of land in Kurdi, Siau, Poto, Badi, and Matour villages of S.A.S. Nagar district and give plots to landowners under the new land pooling policy. However, farmers of these villages are opposing this new policy. In this regard, the farmers gathered at Kurdi village and decided to reject the new land pooling policy of the government and announced that they will not register even a single marla of land in favor of the government.

Nagar district and give plots to landowners under the new land pooling policy. However, farmers of these villages are opposing this new policy. In this regard, the farmers gathered at Kurdi village and decided to reject the new land pooling policy of the government and announced that they will not register even a single marla of land in favor of the government.
On this occasion, Aam Aadmi Ghar Bachao Morcha (Punjab) Convenor Mr. Harminder Singh Mavi, Legal Advisor Advocate Darshan Singh Dhaliwal, Bahadar Singh Badi, AAP leaders Iqbal Singh Raipur, Arvinder Singh Gill, Preetpal Singh Kurdi, Baljit Singh Lambardar, and Jagroop Singh expressed their views and said that the government will not be allowed to demolish these villages under the new policy. They warned that if the government tried to use force, they would start a big movement by contacting farmers and workers organizations across Punjab.
On this occasion, the farmers also prepared a memorandum of demands to be given to Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Bhagwant Singh Mann, Revenue Minister, Urban Development Minister, MLA Kulwant Singh, Chief Administrator of GMADA, and Deputy Commissioner of Mohali, which will be sent to the government soon.
The villagers also demanded that the Lal Lakir (village settlement boundary) of all villages in Mohali district, apart from these villages, be extended by 500 metres, and that land registrations in village settlements, which have been stopped, be resumed immediately. These registrations should be registered with the verification of the village Nambardar or Sarpanch as before.
It was also decided that a Sangharsh Samiti will be formed by the villagers in a few days and a big struggle will be launched regarding all these issues. Among others, Nahar Singh Sarpanch, Harpal Singh, Bahadar Singh Badi, Meghar Singh Nambardar, Gurpreet Singh, Davinder Singh, Chhoja Singh Kurdi, Surjit Singh, Baldev Singh, Didar Singh Badi, Maan Singh Siau, Surmukh Singh Matour, Gurmukh Singh, Nirmal Singh, and Dalveer Singh Badi were also present in the meeting.
