Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, August 22, 2025- A meeting was held with the district managers of all procurement agencies under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Geetika Singh regarding the procurement and storage arrangements of paddy during the Kharif season 2025-26.
It was informed in the meeting that the proposal to start the paddy procurement season this year from 16-09-2025 has been sent to the Government of India by the Food Supply Department. He said that the district administration is committed to purchasing wheat grains from farmers as per the guidelines of the Punjab Government.
In this regard, farmers/landlords are appealed to bring only dry paddy to the markets so that the crop can be auctioned on time and the farmers can get the price of their crop without any delay.
In this regard, the entire Aarthi community of the district is also appealed to inform every farmer/landlord coming to their Aarthi regarding bringing dry paddy to the markets. Dr. Navreet of PUNGRAIN, Raghveer Singh of Punjab State Godown Corporation, Praveen Jain of PUNSUP, Navita of Markfed and Amit Panth of FCI were present in the meeting.
