Giving information about this, Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh said that gypsum will be provided to farmers on 50% subsidy.
He said that gypsum is available in block agriculture offices in the district and interested farmers can get their registration done on the online portal http://agrimachinerypb.com and a farmer can buy a maximum of 25 bags (50 kg each bag). He said that the rate of gypsum per bag is Rs 410 which will give farmers Rs 205 on subsidy.
Chief Agriculture Officer Dr. Rakesh Kumar Sharma said that the lands whose Ph. More than 8.5 or the amount of sodium salt in the soil is increasing due to continuous use of the same type of fertilizers, gypsum should be used for such soils.
He said that due to continuous use of fertilizers and high amount of sodium salt, the water absorption capacity of the soil decreases and due to poor air circulation, the availability of water and nutrients to the roots decreases, due to which gypsum has to be used. He said that if any farmer faces any problem in registering online to get gypsum on subsidy, he can contact the concerned Block Agriculture Officer.
