
Veterinary University and Progressive Dairy Farmers Association sign MoU to strengthen dairy sector.
Ludhiana 23 August 2025- A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana and Progressive Dairy Farmers Association. Under this agreement, the best calves from the best quality foreign breed cows of the members of this association will be studied and they will be selected for breeding purposes.
Ludhiana 23 August 2025- A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana and Progressive Dairy Farmers Association. Under this agreement, the best calves from the best quality foreign breed cows of the members of this association will be studied and they will be selected for breeding purposes.
The university will produce high quality semen vaccines from these calves and supply them to the dairy farmers through this association, thereby promoting sustainable and better breed improvement.
On this occasion, Dr. Jatinder Pal Singh Gill, Vice-Chancellor said that while this will lead to breed improvement, milk productivity will increase and farmers will get cost-effective benefits. He also said that this initiative will establish a sustainable animal development model and the benefits of better breed offspring will be realized.
The president of this organization, S. Daljit Singh Gill, said that the dairy farmers of Punjab prefer HF and Jersey cows that give more milk, due to which the demand for semen of better breed bulls is continuously increasing. At present, farmers have to face challenges in getting these semen vaccines. Under this agreement, we will be able to make vaccines available in our country at a reasonable price.
Dr. Parkash Singh Brar, Director Research said that these cows are known in the world in milk production. In Punjab too, about 40 percent of milk is contributed by these breeds.
Dr. Ravinder Singh Grewal, Director Extension Education said that Punjab has emerged as a leading producer state for HF and Jersey cows in India. This organization also has an important role in this achievement. Farmers from all over the country come to Punjab to buy the best breed of cattle.
Progressive dairy farmers in this region are continuously using high-quality semen vaccines to improve the health of their animals. This new initiative will make it easier, more reliable and more affordable to supply high-quality semen vaccines.
