Farmers urged to bring dry paddy to the markets.

Nawanshahr- Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh today spoke to the traders of all the markets of the district in view of the Kharif season 2025-26 and appealed that farmers should be encouraged to bring dry paddy to the markets so that they do not face any kind of problem.

Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh said that for the convenience of the farmers, 30 permanent and 10 temporary markets have been established in the district where all kinds of procurement arrangements will be ensured.
Talking to the traders, he said that the agencies have gunny bags available as per the requirement for the procurement of paddy and there will be no shortage of gunny bags. Regarding the operation of combines in the district, the Deputy Commissioner said that combine machines will be operated only from 10 am to 6 pm for harvesting paddy.
Inviting all the traders, the Deputy Commissioner said that farmers associated with their respective areas and markets should be appealed to bring only 17 moisture paddy to the markets. He said that by bringing dry paddy, farmers will not have to face any kind of problem in the market.
The Deputy Commissioner asked the traders to also inform the Market Committee about the combines coming from outside the district so that they can be contacted in time and provided with the required information.
The traders suggested to the district administration that trolleys should be allowed to enter the market only after checking the moisture at the entry gates of the markets, on which the Deputy Commissioner asked the Market Committee officials to give special attention to this suggestion.
It is worth mentioning that the MSP of paddy is Rs. 2389 per quintal and there are a total of 55 sellers in the district. On this occasion, DFSC Harveen Kaur, DM of PUNSUP Manpreet Singh, Markfed DM Baljinder Singh, FCI AM Praveen Pratap, Warehouse DM Mandeep Singh, District Market Officer Jashandeep Singh, Arthi Rajesh Kumar, Vikas Soni, Joga Singh, Gurcharan Singh, Manvir Parmar, Sumit Kumar, Aniket Chhabra etc. were also present.
