Justices Sanjay Kumar and Satish Batra of the Supreme Court have issued notices to the Punjab government, district police and the accused in this case and asked them to appear on September 24.
In its order, the Supreme Court has directed the plaintiff to also produce the pen drive in which the entire video of the incident is recorded in the court. It is worth mentioning that four months ago, there was a clash between some influential people of the village and Dalits in Chand Bhan village of Faridkot over an issue.
After that, the police allegedly beat up 40 Dalits and registered a case against them, but after the controversy escalated, the police unconditionally released all the Dalits, but those who attacked them were not arrested and later the Punjab and Haryana High Court granted anticipatory bail to the people who attacked the Dalits!
Which the affected Dalit families and the Chand Bhan Anti-Atrocities Action Committee have now challenged in the Supreme Court.
