Phagwara- A massive fire broke out at a mattress factory in Kapurthala's Nurpur Dona village on Jalandhar Road here on Thursday morning, destroying goods worth lakhs of rupees. The fire, which broke out around 8:30 am, spread rapidly throughout the factory, reducing the stock and infrastructure to ashes.
Officials said that the fire brigade was immediately informed, and within a minute, Fire Officer Gurpreet Singh and his team reached the spot to start the rescue operation. Three fire tenders and a crew of 10 personnel were engaged in dousing the fire for about two hours.
Although the fire has caused extensive property damage, there is no news of any loss of life so far. An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
