11th edition of PECMUN Ended on a High Note

Chandigarh: 23rd April, 2024:- Speakers’ Association and Study Circle (SAASC) club of Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh inaugurated the 11th edition of PECMUN, one of the premier MUNs of the north region, on 20th-21st April, 2024, with guidance and support from Dean of Student Affairs Dr. D.R. Prajapati and the entire office.

Chandigarh: 23rd April, 2024:- Speakers’ Association and Study Circle (SAASC) club of Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh inaugurated the 11th edition of PECMUN, one of the premier MUNs of the north region, on 20th-21st April, 2024, with guidance and support from Dean of Student Affairs Dr. D.R. Prajapati and the entire office. 


The inaugural ceremony was graced by Dr. Divya Bansal (Head Cyber Security Research Center and Head of Student Counselling Cell), Dr. Manish Kumar (Professor incharge of Academics) and Ms. Amandeep Kaur (Professor Incharge of SAASC Club). Dr. Divya Bansal through her speech reminded the students about the motto of the United Nations which is “To unite our strength to maintain international peace and security.” The air was filled with anticipation as delegates immersed themselves in the melodious strains of musical performances by Music Club of PEC. 


Following this, the committee sessions commenced across various platforms, including UNHRC, UNSC, UNCSW, AIPPM, and UNGA, each delving deep into crucial global issues with an engaging, insightful and intellectual discourse. Adding a unique dimension, the IP committee sparked creativity via photography and journalism. 


More than 150+ students from various colleges, universities and schools of the likes of NIT Jalandhar, Thapar University, Panjab University, CCET, GMCH, Vivek High school, DPS, YPS Mohali participated in the event. The event is sponsored by Envision, EdNite, O2 IAS Academy, DU Beat, PU Pulse, NO Scars, 3Not3. 

After 5 sessions being conducted on both days for the 6 committees; UNGA, UNSC, UNHRC, UNCSW, AIPPM, and IP draft resolutions were made and multiple motions were passed.

 

The Closing Ceremony was graced with the presence of Ms. Tanveen Kaur Gill, Mr. Navneet Kamboj, Prof. Amandeep Kaur, and Dr. Manish Kamboj. The delegates were joyful during the prize distribution ceremony and the entire event was a huge success!!
