On this occasion they were accompanied by District Immunization Officer Dr. Gurpreet Kaur, District Mass Media Officer Kulbir Kaur, Deputy Mass Media Officer Bhag Singh and Jasjit Kaur, Supervisor Kuldeep Kaur, Geeta Rani, Bitu, Gurpreet Kaur and faculty staff of Nursing School Madam Sunita, Harvinder Kaur, Santosh Sodhi, Rajni Bala, Salvinder Kaur, Mandeep Kaur were present Addressing the students, Dr. Raminder Kaur said that leprosy is caused by a special bacterium, Lepra bacilli. Leprosy is not a disease of nature or the fruit of previous births, but it is a skin disease And if the patient is treated on time, many types of deformity and disability can be avoided.
He said that this disease is treated completely free of cost in all government hospitals, health centers and government dispensaries through multi drug therapy. The patient has to continue the treatment from 6 months to 1 year depending on the disease.
