Patiala, October 31 (Paramjit Singh Parwana)
The experts of Punjab Agricultural University gave a demo of the latest machinery surface seeder for stubble management and wheat sowing to the farmers at Ajraur and Kheri Ranwa (Bahru) villages of Patiala district. On this occasion, the experts answered the questions asked by the farmers regarding the surface seeder and encouraged the farmers to use this new machinery by sowing wheat successfully.
Dr. Jasveer Singh Gill, the engineer who invented the machine from Punjab Agricultural University, gave training to the farmers about the use of surface seeder in the fields of farmer Jai Singh at village Ajrour and farmer Swaran Singh at village Kheri Ranwa. The seeding and fertilizer are applied together, while the stubble is cut through a cutter and spread across the field as mulching. He said that three tasks are done simultaneously with this machinery, in which stubble management, sowing of wheat and fertilization in the fields are completed by the farmer at the same time.
Dr. Jasveer Singh Gill, showing the successful sowing of wheat with surface seeder, told the farmers that it is very important to treat the seeds with insecticides and fungicides before sowing. And light water should be applied in the field after sowing because the fields are completely dry during sowing with surface seeder. And for germination, it is necessary to apply light water in the field and for increased yield, farmers should also make the furrows in the fields smaller, this also makes it easier to apply water and fertilizer.
On this occasion, farmer Jai Singh and other farmers expressed satisfaction over the sowing done with surface seeder and said that this has solved the stubble problem, along with this, time and money will also be saved by sowing wheat and fertilizing. He also inspired other farmers to adopt this new technology.
