Expert Lectures Organized by CSE during the Expert Lecture Week

Chandigarh : 16th March, 2024: The Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh has organized various expert lectures during the Industry-Academia Expert Lecture Week from 11th to 15th March, 2024. Various other Departments had also organized Lectures in a variety of fields as of Communication, AI, ML, Power Generation, Electronics, and Industry as a whole, inducing an amalgamation of academia and Industry. The deatils of Lectures organized by CSE are as follows:

The deatils of Lectures organized by CSE are as follows:  
 
1. Topic :  "Computer Vision Approaches to Measure Camera Image Quality'' (Online Mode) 
Keynote Speaker : Dr. Aman Kamboj (Senior Technical Manager of AI in computer vision domain at Michelin R&D Pune
Dr. Aman Kamboj delivered a lecture on Computer Vision Approaches to Measure Camera Image Quality, focusing on a multifaceted approach, covering Test Bench key components, automated characterization procedures, approaches to process images, and features of radial profile. The objectives of the lecture aimed to automate the evaluation of laparoscope optical performance across various principle domains including illumination characteristics, imaging quality parameters and Indocyanine Green (ICG) sensitivity.


2. Topic : Cloud native Technology and Kubernetes (Online Mode) 
Keynote Speaker : Mr. Anant Dev Tyagi (Senior Specialist R&D function at Ericsson LMI (Ireland))
Mr. Anant Dev Tyagi delivered the lecture on Cloud Native Development using Kubernetes, focusing on a multifaceted approach, covering different mindsets, the importance of design patterns, and practical insights into tools and techniques such as Agile, DevOps, GitOps and Kubernates. The objectives of the lecture aimed to reshape the traditional thinking surrounding cloud systems and shed light on the significance of adopting alternative perspectives.


3. Topic : Large language Modeling and Generative AI
Keynote Speaker : Ms. Diksha Malhotra
During the Industry Academia Expert lecture week held on 15th March,2024 Ms. Diksha Malhotra, an Industry Expert in the field of NLP, Generative AI and XAI with +3 years of Industry experience and +5 years of Teaching experience gave an insight into Large language Modeling and Generative AI.
Knowledge about how tools like chatGPT work with the help of Creative Prompts fed by users was discussed. Also, how generative AI is used for Information creation in a structured interconnected format which is known as Knowledge Graphs was also introduced. Every knowledge graph has certain nodes known as entities which are connected to each other in one or other form. Insights into Large Language Models and their working by using processes like chunking was also discussed in detail. Advantages of generative AI and its applications in real world scenarios was discussed like Drug Discovery, personalized medicine, targeted marketing and Customer Service chatbots was also discussed.

4. Topic: How to get Adapt with Industry Trends Quickly (Online Mode)
Keynote Speaker: Simran Bansal (Associate R&D Engineer, Nokia) 
Mr. Simran delivered a lecture titled "How to Quickly Adapt to Industry Trends,& focusing on an effective approach to entering the industry. He emphasized the importance of adapting to changing roles and market trends. The objectives of the talk were to provide insights into the industry and foster engagement at various levels.
The expert began by highlighting the necessity of staying updated with the rapidly evolving industry landscape, stressing the importance of learning about relevant fields and staying current with market trends. He emphasized the significance of technology in the upcoming market and its essential role in breaking into the sector, alongside the importance of networking through platforms like LinkedIn and Twitter for global community engagement.

5. Topic : “Towards Effective 3D scene Reconstruction on Drone Imagery'' (Online Mode) 
Keynote Speaker : Puyam S. Singh (Scientist-SF, North Eastern Space,Application Centre, Govt Of India, Department of space, Shillong) 
Er. Puyam S. Singh delivered the lecture on “Towards Effective 3D scene Reconstruction on Drone Imagery, by elaborating from feature detection, matching and 3d reconstruction using 2d images. At the same time he discussed various applications of 3d mapping. The expert began by emphasizing the need of deep understanding of capturing 2d images to obtain a 3d model and how orientation of the camera can be changed to obtain a specific part of the object. The lecture then led to an overview of 3D scene understanding from image-based modeling, and developing computer vision algorithms for feature extraction and segmentation.
