
The district unit of Punjab Government Pensioners Association celebrated Pensioners Day as protest day
SAS Nagar, December 22 - Pensioners' Day was celebrated as protest day by Punjab Government Pensioners Association, District SAS Nagar at Dr. Ambedkar Welfare Mission, Sector-69, Mohali. During this event organized under the chairmanship of association president Jarnail Singh Sidhu, pensioners from SAS Nagar, Chandigarh, Kharar, Jirakpur, Derabassi and surrounding areas participated. On this occasion Mr. Vaneet Agarwal, Chief Manager, Punjab National Bank, Sector-17, participated as the chief guest. He assured the pensioners of solving the problems facing them.

On this occasion, the secretary general of the association, Dr. NK Kalsi, said that the dearness allowance installment to the employees and pensioners is received every six months on the basis of the consumer index, for which the pensioners are eagerly waiting. He said that currently three installments of 12% Dearness Allowance for July 2022, January 2023 and July July 2023 are due for Punjab government employees and pensioners and the fourth installment is also due from January 2024. He said that the installment of 4% due from July 2022 has been released by the Punjab government on December 20 and this installment paid after three and a half years is being described as a New Year gift by the Punjab government which was demanded by all the pensioners. Resolved that the three outstanding installments at the rate of 12% be paid immediately and the dearness allowance pending for 213 months from 1-January-2016 till now be paid.
The pensioners demanded that the government should control inflation so that the government does not have to pay dearness allowance. Apart from this, various speakers also appealed to the Punjab government that according to the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission, the 2.59 factor should be implemented immediately for pensioners on the pattern of the Government of India and by applying the 2.59 factor from 1 January 2016 to 30 June 2021, 66 Monthly pension arrears should be paid, cashless medical facilities should be provided immediately, jijaya tax decision of Rs.200 should be withdrawn immediately.
On this occasion, Dr. Jaspreet Singh Randhawa, IVY Hospital suggested various formulas to the pensioners to maintain their health. State Working General Secretary of Punjab State Pensioners Mahasangh BS Saini, who came specially on this occasion, warned the Punjab government that if the Punjab government does not show seriousness towards the constitutional demands of pensioners, then Punjab State Pensioners Mahasangh and Punjab Government Pensioners Joint Front By uniting with them, the struggle will be intensified and until these demands are met, the struggle will continue.
On this occasion, CTU Workers Welfare Committee President, Bhupinder Singh, General Secretary Gurcharan Singh, Mool Raj Sharma, Sucha Singh Klaud, Kartar Singh Pal, Kulwant Singh Sandhu, Gurbaksh Singh, Armik Singh Sethi, Kuldeep Singh Jangla, Bhupinder Singh Ball, Rajinder Mohan , Rajinder Pal Sharma, Prit Pal Singh, Krishna Chand Mulanpur, Prem Singh, Joginder Pal, Madanjit Singh, Balbir Singh Sandhu, Balbir Singh, Santokh Singh, Manmohan Singh Marwaha, Gurdeep Singh Joga, Gurmeet Singh Khokhar, Prem Chand, Sodagar Khan etc. Many other leaders were present. Gurbaksh Singh played the role of stage secretary very well.
