Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri said this while presiding over the state level cooperative function of the 70th All India Cooperative Week at Himcaps College, Bedhra under Haroli Assembly constituency.
He said that today is the time when we have to analyze cooperation and its history so that we can know from where we started and where we have reached. He said that Himachal Pradesh is world famous as Devbhoomi. This mass movement was started in the year 1892 from Panjawar village of Haroli Vis area, which took the form of mass movement in the entire country. Presently the country and other states are also progressing at a fast pace in cooperatives and are doing excellent work in the cooperative sector. But it is true that the birthplace of co-operation is Panjawar village of Haroli Vis area of ??district Una from where Mian Hira Singh started the co-operative movement.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that Himcaps College is completely dedicated to the cooperative sector. He said that the cooperative societies here have made a huge contribution in opening Himcaps College and are currently also cooperating, which is promoting the field of education. The Deputy Chief Minister said that first of all, law classes were run in Himcaps College, seeing the success of which, nursing course was also started in the college. He said that the students who have graduated from this institute are also serving in reputed health institutions and courts of the country. He said that in the coming time, courses like BAMS and MBA will also be started in this institute. Mukesh Agnihotri said that by rising above any political discrimination, the name of Himcaps College will be mentioned among the best colleges.
Mukesh Agnihotri said that Swan Women Federation has been formed from the cooperative sector in the district. He said that at present 13 thousand women of the district are associated with this group. Apart from this, he said that a training institute is also being opened in the name of Mian Hira Singh, the father of cooperative movement in Panjawar for which land has been identified and funds will be made available soon. He said that about 51 hundred cooperative societies are functioning in the state and 20 lakh people are associated with cooperatives. He said that 870 profitable cooperative societies in the cooperative sector will be completely digitalized so that transparency and credibility towards cooperative societies is maintained among the people.
He instructed the officials of the Cooperative Department to prepare a better road map for the cooperative societies. Apart from this, he also instructed the district administration Una that an action plan should be prepared for how to further develop the cooperative sector in the district and what new works should be done. He said that Himbunkar in district Kullu and Kamdhenu in district Bilaspur are doing better work in the cooperative sector in the state. He called upon the people that to advance the cooperative sector in Una, the movement will have to be carried forward continuously for which it is necessary to have strong strength among the people.
First of all, the Deputy Chief Minister paid obeisance at the Radha Krishna temple built in the Himcaps College campus. Thereafter, he visited the exhibitions organized by various cooperative societies of Himachal Pradesh based on various developmental activities like Farmer Fertilizer, IFFCO Nano Urea, Tibetan Handicraft Cooperative Society, Mcleodganj and Agriculture Department. After visiting the exhibition, the chief guest hoisted the colorful rainbow flag, the symbol of the cooperative movement, in the college campus and the students of Himcaps presented the cooperative anthem.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that apart from achieving the goal of social and economic upliftment of rural areas, the cooperative societies in the state are also playing their part in the distribution of government sponsored schemes like public distribution system, fertilizers and agricultural equipment through 3171 grocery depots operated under the cooperative sector. The role is being played with complete honesty. He said that the theme of this cooperative week is the emerging sector and ease of doing business in cooperatives. He said that 5,099 cooperative societies are functioning in the state, in which 19 lakh 15 thousand members have shares worth Rs 490 crore, Rs 37,250 crore as deposits and Rs 50614 crore as working capital.
Registrar Cooperative Society Sandeep Kadam welcomed the chief guest and provided detailed information about the activities of the Cooperative Department. Apart from this, Chairman Himcaps College Badhera Vikramjit presented the details of the activities of the only Himcaps College of the state being run in the cooperative sector.
On this occasion, State Cooperative Employees Union President Vijay Kumar put forward his demands, on which the Deputy Chief Minister asked the Registrar Cooperative Society to consider them sympathetically. Apart from this, Praveen Sharma of State Cooperative Employees Union also shared his views.
