1752 crores of paddy has been paid to farmers in Patiala district: Deputy Commissioner

Patiala, November 1 - As fast as paddy is arriving in the markets of Patiala district, the purchasing agencies are buying paddy at the same speed.

- More than 8 lakh 64 thousand metric tons of paddy arrived in the district markets.
Patiala, November 1 - As fast as paddy is arriving in the markets of Patiala district, the purchasing agencies are buying paddy at the same speed. Giving information in this regard, Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sahni said that 8 lakh 64 thousand 954 metric tons of paddy has arrived in the markets of the district till last day and out of this 8 lakh 61 thousand 490 metric tons of paddy has been purchased. He said that payment of Rs 1752.53 crore has also been made to the farmers of the purchased paddy.
The Deputy Commissioner said that 371018 metric tons of paddy has been purchased from Pangrain, 212972 metric tons from Markfed, 165150 metric tons from Pansap and 112200 metric tons from Punjab State Warehouse Corporation.
On this occasion, the Deputy Commissioner held a meeting with the officials of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department, Cooperative Societies, Punjab Pollution Control Board and Food and Civil Supplies Department and instructed them that farmers should not face any kind of problem in the markets and stubble management should be done. For this, it should be ensured that the machinery is provided to the farmers on time. He said that the farmers should also be made aware about the WhatsApp chat bot number 73800-16070 prepared by the district administration to give information about the machinery.
Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sahni appealed to the farmers to prefer using in situ techniques for stubble management so as to avoid diseases caused by polluted environment. He said that the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Patiala, should organize camps at the block level to give information to the farmers regarding the use of new machinery
