Chandigarh, September 10 - During and after the massive devastation caused by the floods in Punjab, various organizations of Punjab are contributing to their help at their own level. Meanwhile, efforts are being made by Punjabis living abroad, people associated with the Punjabi film industry and various social organizations to provide relief to the villages at their own level. At the same time, various plans are also being made to protect them from future floods.
Meanwhile, Khalsa Aid has taken the initiative to start a unique initiative. Khalsa Aid will reconstruct schools in those areas, which are often flooded. The specialty of these school buildings will be that they will be kept higher than the ground level. Along with the education of children in these schools, there will also be arrangements for the stay of the villagers during floods and there will also be facilities for keeping animals. The construction of these buildings will be strengthened so that even in heavy floods, no damage can be done to the buildings of these schools.
Along with this, the organizations or individuals who have adopted the villages at their level are making regular schemes at their level for those villages so that the flood-affected villages can be given that permanent condition and there can be no loss of life and property during future floods.
However, the relief of 1600 crores announced by the central government in the meantime has disappointed the Punjabis. The reason for this is that where the loss is estimated to be around 50 thousand crores, the amount of 1600 crores seems insignificant. The Bharatiya Janata Party is on the backfoot after this announcement while the Aam Aadmi Party is calling this announcement anti-Punjab.
Along with this, the Shiromani Akali Dal Badal has demanded to increase this assistance further and Congress President Raja Warring has called this assistance a dirty joke on Punjab and demanded a big economic package for Punjab. Along with this, various organizations are also expressing their displeasure over the apathy of the central government.
Various farmer organizations have said that they did not have any confidence in the central government in advance that they would help Punjab. If the amount announced by various organizations and individuals reaches the flood victims, then it is a good thing. Which also includes the promise made by Punjabis living abroad.
