Nawanshahr- With the aim of making the 'War on Drugs' campaign launched by the Punjab government against drugs more effective, the district administration Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar will organize a district level awareness event of Village Security Committees on May 4 at AS Resort, Chandigarh Road, Nawanshahr. This information was given by Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Rajiv Verma during a meeting with the officials to review the preparations for the event.
He said that Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains and other important personalities are specially reaching this event. He said that through this program being organized under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh, the Village Security Committees formed in the district will be made aware of their duties and responsibilities.
He said that the role of these committees is very important in making villages drug free and therefore it is necessary to provide them proper training and guidance. During the meeting, the Additional Deputy Commissioner clearly explained the roles of all the concerned departments and directed them to work in coordination with each other to ensure the success of the programme.
He said that each department will have to play its role seriously so that the real objective of this campaign, i.e. creation of a drug-free society, can be realized. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Avneet Kaur, Assistant Commissioner (G) Rohit Jindal and other officers were also present on the occasion.
