Organizations working in the field of child welfare must be registered - Kanchan Arora

Nawanshahr- As per Section 41(1) of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2015, the institutions run by the State Government or non-governmental organizations; which are providing free accommodation, food, education, medical facilities etc. to children in need of protection and care in whole or in part and in which children below the age of 18 years are staying, are mandatory to be registered under the Juvenile Justice Act.

Giving this information, District Child Welfare Officer Kanchan Arora said that if any non-governmental organization in the district is working in the field of child welfare. But it is not yet registered under Section 41(1) of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2015.
The managers of such organizations have to register their organization as per Form No. 27 of the Notified JJ Model Rules 2016; Submit your documents to the office of District Program Officer/District Child Protection Officer (Room No. 413, 3rd Floor, District Administrative Complex, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar) before 20 December 2024.
He said that if any such non-governmental organization is found in the district after 20 December 2024. which is working in the field of child welfare but is not registered under the JJ Act. Action will be taken against it as per Section 42 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2015.
