Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, 03 July 2025: A meeting was held with the baler operators working in the district and stubble-using firms under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal for proper management of paddy stubble during the year 2025-26.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development), Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar Sonam Chaudhary, Chief Agriculture Officer Gurmail Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Head Quarters) Harsimrat Singh Chhetra, District Development and Panchayat Officer Paramveer Kaur, Deputy Registrar Cooperative Societies Gurbir Singh Dhillon and officials of the Agriculture and Cooperation Department participated in this meeting.
The Deputy Commissioner asked the baler owners/operators about the difficulties faced while preparing and supplying straw bales. The baler owners said that after preparing straw bales from the fields, while supplying them to the concerned firms, the baler owners are facing financial losses due to bad roads, hanging electric wires, blockage at toll plazas and lack of insurance in case of fire of stored straw. 
The Deputy Commissioner ordered the concerned departments and firms to repair the roads, fix the electric wires, issue passes for toll plazas and get straw insurance from the firms using the straw in coordination with the baler owners. 
The Deputy Commissioner directed the Chief Agriculture Officer to obtain village-wise lists from the baler owners so that the prepared straw bales can be supplied to the concerned firms in a smooth manner. 
Apart from this, the district Sub-Divisional Magistrate, DSP, Agriculture Department, Cooperation Department and officers and employees of various institutions were also asked to prepare a WhatsApp group so that the necessary action regarding stubble management can be taken in a timely manner. 
In this meeting, District Nodal Officer of Stubble Management Scheme Dr. Gurdial Kumar, Block Agriculture Officer Dr. Subhkaran Singh, Dr. Raman Karoria, Mr. Gursaran Singh Assistant Food Supply Officer, Paramjit Singh Owner Shaktiman Agro Cell Machhiwara and representatives of Nachiketa Paper Mill, Nahar Industry, T. C. Spinner Industry, Y.C. D and C.D. BL firms working in the district participated.
