Chandigarh- Shiromani Akali Dal (Revived) today met the Punjab Governor at Punjab Raj Bhavan with its three-member delegation, Sardar Prem Singh Chandumajra, former MP, Jathedar Gurpartap Singh Wadala, former MLA and Sardar Gurjit Singh Talwandi.
In the memorandum submitted by the party to the Punjab Governor, the party drew the attention of the Punjab Governor to the issues related to the Panth and Punjab and demanded justice.
In the memorandum submitted by the delegation, it was demanded that Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara be granted parole with immediate effect. It was brought to the notice of the Central Government that the health of Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara's mother is very poor but Bhai Hawara has not yet been granted parole to serve his elderly and sick mother. Depriving a son of serving his mother in her delicate condition is a gross violation of human rights.
The resolution of the Panchayat Committee of Hawara village was also presented in the memorandum given, which is a resolution passed in the form of taking full responsibility for the parole period. The village Panchayat has also demanded immediate parole for Bhai Hawara so that Bhai Hawara can serve his elderly mother.
Immediate release was demanded from the Central Government in the case of Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana. The memorandum said that Bhai Rajoana has already served twice the sentence of life imprisonment. Now it is unjust to keep him in prison for more. Such an action deepens the wounds of the Sikh community instead of moving towards providing justice. The party demanded the immediate release of Bhai Rajoana.
In the matter of release of the imprisoned Sikhs, it was brought to the notice of the Punjab Governor that on the arrival of the 350th Parkash Purb of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, the party president Giani Harpreet Singh Ji has already sent a detailed letter (letter number 0005, dated 26 September 2025) to the Honorable Prime Minister Ji, in which the release of the imprisoned Sikhs has been demanded.
When the country is celebrating the 350th Parkash Purb of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, on this historic occasion, releasing those Sikh prisoners who have completed their sentence will be a very appropriate and positive step. This step will be an expression of trust and confidence by the central government with the Sikh community.
Along with this, it was demanded that the Punjab government issue a white paper on relief funds. The statements made by the Punjab government regarding the relief funds received from the center have created an atmosphere of uncertainty among the people of Punjab.
The Chief Minister said in the Vidhan Sabha that a large amount is still pending, while after a meeting with the Home Minister in Delhi, he said in the media that the entire ?12,000 crore has been used and an additional ?1,600 crore has also been received.
These contradictory claims raise questions about the credibility of the government and serious questions arise among the people as to where these funds were used. Therefore, we demand that a detailed white paper be issued immediately and the amount used be accounted for before the people.
Along with this, it was demanded that permission be given without delay to the Sangat going to Nankana Sahib to celebrate Gur Purb. Their safety should be ensured.
It was also brought to the notice that cricket matches have resumed in India-Pakistan after the recent clash. If three consecutive cricket matches can be held between the India and Pakistan teams, then in this context why can't Sikh pilgrims get safe passage to visit their holy places.
It was demanded that the Kartarpur Corridor be opened immediately and Sikh pilgrims be allowed to go to Nankana Sahib.
