Chandigarh- Singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh has broken his silence on the controversy surrounding his film ‘Sardarji 3’ with reference to the Pahalgam terror attack. Dosanjh said that Sikhs can never go against the country. The singer also explained the reason for his silence for the last few months.
During one of his shows in Malaysia, Diljit Dosanjh also spoke about the Pahalgam terror attack, the controversy surrounding his film ‘Sardarji 3’ with Pakistani actress Hania Aamir and the recent India-Pakistan match in the Asia Cup being played in Dubai. Dosanjh said that the shooting of his film was done before the attack, while the match was played after it.
In the viral video of the musical show, Diljit said that although he has many answers to give, he has chosen to remain silent so far. Saluting the national flag, he said, "This is the flag of my country. Always respect it." The actor said, "When the shooting of my film 'Sardarji 3' was done in February, then the (Champions Trophy) matches were going on."
Diljit expressed grief over the Pahalgam terror attack and said, "Then and now, we have always prayed to God that the terrorists get the strictest punishment. The only difference is that the shooting of my film was done before the attack and the match was played after the attack."
Reason for remaining silent
Diljit also gave the reason for his long silence and said, "I have many answers, but I remained silent, kept everything inside. I did not speak. I have many answers. Whatever anyone says to you, you should not take that poison inside yourself. I have learnt this from life. That is why I did not say anything. There are many more things to say, but I don't want to do that.''
Sardarji 3 controversy
Diljit faced widespread criticism earlier this year over the cast of 'Sardarji 3', which included Pakistani actress Hania Aamir. The makers were also criticised for their decision to release the film worldwide instead of in India.
The Federation of Western India Cine Employees had demanded that Diljit be blacklisted from the film industry and his Indian citizenship revoked. The order was, however, later overturned.
