New Delhi: The husband of the woman arrested in connection with the death of a senior finance ministry official has told the police that he had called his father-in-law and told him that his wife was taking the injured to their hospital, an official said.

Navjot Singh (52), who was deputy secretary in the economic affairs department, died on Sunday afternoon when he was returning from Bangla Sahib Gurdwara with his wife Sandeep Kaur when their motorcycle was hit by a BMW car. While Singh died in the incident, his wife was seriously injured.
In her statement to the police, Sandeep Kaur said that she had repeatedly requested the woman, Gaganpreet Kaur, and her husband Parikshit to be taken to a nearby hospital as her husband was unconscious and needed immediate treatment. However, they took him to Nulife Hospital, which is located more than 19 km from the accident site.
Police sources said that after being discharged from the hospital, the police brought Parikshit for questioning, in which he said that he had no idea about how the accident happened.
