Haryana will get promotion of oilseed products.

Chandigarh, August 21-The Haryana government has constituted the State Oilseed Mission under the leadership of Chief Secretary Mr. Anurag Rastogi with the aim of promoting oilseed production in the state and achieving self-reliance in edible oils. The mission aims to implement the goals of increasing productivity and achieving self-reliance in edible oils at the ground level.

Chandigarh, August 21-The Haryana government has constituted the State Oilseed Mission under the leadership of Chief Secretary Mr. Anurag Rastogi with the aim of promoting oilseed production in the state and achieving self-reliance in edible oils. The mission aims to implement the goals of increasing productivity and achieving self-reliance in edible oils at the ground level. For this, coordination will be established with state-level agencies, district-level institutions and the central government.
According to the information issued by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, the Additional Chief Secretary of the department will be the member secretary of this mission. Other members will include Administrative Secretaries of the Departments of Cooperation, Industries, Rural Development, Finance and Fodder, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Vice Chancellor of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Directors of ICAR Institutes in Haryana, State In-charge of NABARD and Nodal Officer of the State Level Bankers Committee.
Apart from this, representatives of Oilseed Producer Farmers Association Cooperative Committees, representatives of industries associated with oilseed, vegetable oil and seed production and representatives of the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare of the Central Government will also be part of this mission.
The major responsibilities of the State Oil Mission include finalizing the State Oil Action Plan as per national targets, monitoring key performance indicators such as crop-wise area, production, average yield and oil production, ensuring effective allocation of financial resources for infrastructure and processing facilities, monitoring the work of district level missions and value chain partners and coordinating with other central and state schemes.
The State Oil Mission will meet at least twice a year to review progress and formulate strategies for effective implementation. Experts may also be invited to assist in the functioning of the Mission, if required.
