SAS Nagar, August 2 - Shopkeepers Mani Singh, Satwinder Kaur, Karamjit Kaur, Nittan and others who set up stalls outside Bougainvillea Park in Phase 4 and do various types of food and drink have complained at Police Station Phase 1 Mohali that a person named Raghubir Singh, who calls himself the Superintendent of the Municipal Corporation, tried to snatch their tables despite their license and demanded money to work here.
Mani Singh, who works as a dahi-bhalle outside Bougainvillea Park, has written that his license is valid and he also deposits the fee in the corporation every month. He has written that he was doing his work as usual, during which some employees of the Municipal Corporation (one of whom is named Raghubir Singh) came there and tried to remove his table. When they told him that he had a street vendor license and that he also paid his fee every month, he did not listen to them.
During this, Raghubir Singh also assaulted his wife and the woman who worked on the chicken and curry-rice stall there. During this, when the chicken stall owner started making videos daily, he was pushed and his phone was snatched away. He alleged that this employee demanded Rs 12,000 from him and said that if he wants to work here, he will have to pay the money.
He said that all of them have been working for four years and they all work very cleanly and politely. He has demanded that justice be done to them.
When contacted in this regard, Raghubir Singh, who retired as a superintendent from the Municipal Corporation (who has been posted as a labor supervisor by the Municipal Corporation), said that these people are making false allegations against him and no such thing has happened.
Many attempts were made to contact the Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation in this regard, but contact could not be established with him as he did not pick up the phone.
