
Patients should get every medicine from government health institutions: Civil Surgeon.
Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, July 30: Patients coming to government health institutions of the district should get every medicine from the hospital pharmacy. If any medicine needs to be purchased from a private chemist, then it is the responsibility of the in-charge of the institution to purchase the relevant medicine and give it to the patient and pay the money himself.

This instruction was given by Civil Surgeon Dr. Sangeeta Jain to the program officers and senior medical officers of the district during the meeting. She said that there is no shortage of essential and emergency medicines in every government health institution, so the patient should get every medicine from within the health institution.
She said that the Punjab government has strict instructions that only generic medicines should be prescribed by doctors on OPD slips. Dr. Jain directed that there should be complete arrangement of medical oxygen and power supply in the government institution, for which regular staff should be put on duty and full power backup is also necessary to deal with any emergency.
The Civil Surgeon said that in every government institution, examination and treatment services are free for patients, especially pregnant women. He instructed that ultrasound tests of pregnant women should be conducted in government hospitals and listed private centers only. He said that people should not face any problem in any government health institution in terms of examination and treatment and wherever there is any deficiency, it should be removed immediately.
He said that all health institutions, especially toilets etc. should be kept clean so that patients are provided with a clean environment in the health institution. Keeping in mind the ongoing season of Dengue, Malaria, Chikungunya diseases, Dr. Jain asked all the officers to make people more aware about the symptoms, causes, prevention and treatment of these diseases so that minimum cases of these diseases are reported during this season.
He also inquired about the progress of the ‘Aam Aadmi Clinics’ running in the district. The Civil Surgeon also reviewed the progress of various national and state health programs and schemes and said that no stone should be left unturned in implementing them effectively.
District Immunization Officer Dr. Girish Dogra, District Family Welfare Officer Dr. Tamanna and all senior medical officers were present in the meeting.
