
Instructions to outside supporters to leave the area by July 27 for Gram Panchayat by-elections.
Hoshiarpur- District Magistrate-cum-District Election Officer Ashika Jain said that the Punjab State Election Commission is conducting elections for the vacant seats of Sarpanch and Panch in various Gram Panchayats of Hoshiarpur district on July 27, 2025. In this regard, under Section 128 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, the campaigners, relatives or other outside supporters of the candidates who have filed nominations should leave the concerned constituency as soon as the election campaign ends.
Hoshiarpur- District Magistrate-cum-District Election Officer Ashika Jain said that the Punjab State Election Commission is conducting elections for the vacant seats of Sarpanch and Panch in various Gram Panchayats of Hoshiarpur district on July 27, 2025. In this regard, under Section 128 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, the campaigners, relatives or other outside supporters of the candidates who have filed nominations should leave the concerned constituency as soon as the election campaign ends.
In an order issued by District Magistrate-cum-District Election Officer Ashika Jain, exercising the powers vested in her under the Criminal Procedure Code 2023 (Section 183, Chapter XI-C), all outside persons who have come to campaign for the candidate should leave the limits of the concerned Gram Panchayat areas as soon as the time limit for election campaign ends.
This order will come into effect immediately and will remain in force till July 27, 2025. The order clarifies that this instruction will not be applicable to civil administration, paramilitary forces and uniformed police personnel.
To ensure strict compliance of this order, the Senior Superintendent of Police, Hoshiarpur has been entrusted with the responsibility of inspecting community buildings, dharamshalas, guest houses, restaurants etc. located in the villages by the officers under his jurisdiction and ensuring that no outsiders are given shelter there.
In addition, instructions have also been issued to ensure the identity of outsiders and prepare their list, so that the activities of non-voters coming from outside the constituency can be monitored and any interference in the election process can be prevented.
