Mohali- The hearing of the barracks change of former Akali minister Bikram Singh Majithia, lodged in Nabha's New Jail on alleged charges of amassing assets beyond his means, will now be held on July 22. The court set the next date for the hearing of the case today.
Bikram Majithia's lawyers HS Dhanoa and others had recently filed a petition in the court demanding that Bikram Majithia's barracks in New Nabha Jail be changed. The lawyers had argued that Majithia is a former MLA and former minister, hence he should be kept in the orange category.
They had demanded that Majithia be kept separate from convicted and trial prisoners. The court had issued notices to the Punjab government and the Nabha Jail Superintendent regarding this matter and sought their response. Lawyers from both sides were present in the court today.
