Lecturers are bearing the brunt of the wrong policies of the government: General Category Joint Action Committee Punjab Chief Organizer Sham Lal Sharma.
Mohali, July 2: Like the previous governments of Aam Aadmi Party, the honorable government of Punjab is also passing time only by making statements, while in reality no attention is being paid to education reforms. While the current government is promoting education revolution and better education model of Punjab in the whole country.
Mohali, July 2: Like the previous governments of Aam Aadmi Party, the honorable government of Punjab is also passing time only by making statements, while in reality no attention is being paid to education reforms. While the current government is promoting education revolution and better education model of Punjab in the whole country.
Don't get tired, the reality at the ground level is something else. These words were expressed by Shyam Lal, Chief Organizer of General Category Joint Action Committee Punjab. Sharma said this by issuing a press note.
He told that more than 50 percent of the posts of principals in senior secondary schools of Punjab are lying vacant, which in itself is a question mark on the education revolution of Aam Aadmi Party. It is worth mentioning here that the opposition parties are also constantly attacking the government regarding these vacant posts. And the government has also had to face embarrassment many times.
To remove this disappointment and to truly implement the education revolution, in early April this year, Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains announced in the media that this situation will not last long. This has arisen due to the wrong policies of the government, because in 2018 the then Congress government had changed the rules, due to which the promotion quota of lecturers was reduced from 75 percent to 50 percent. The percentage was increased.
Correcting this mistake, the current government is again increasing the promotion quota from 50 percent to 75 percent, due to which on one hand the lecturers who have been waiting for their promotion for a long time will also get justice. It has also been announced to fill hundreds of vacant posts of principals in senior secondary schools of Punjab. This caused a wave of happiness among the senior teachers and they strongly welcomed this decision of the government.
He further said that even after almost three months have passed, this announcement has not been implemented yet. It was made, due to which there is a lot of anger in this class. Surprisingly, the education department has not yet made any changes in these 2018 service rules at its level. No changes have been made and it is being repeatedly said that the department is taking action in this regard.
The sad aspect of these senior lecturers is that they have been in their posts for almost three decades. They are waiting for the first promotion. In the meantime, many have retired and many lecturers will retire in the next few months. Then when will they get justice?
He told that teachers should contact the higher officials of the education department, Chief Secretary Punjab regarding their problems. Contact Education Minister Punjab, Aam Aadmi Party Punjab President Aman Arora, Speaker Punjab Vidhan Sabha and many others. Other people have also been contacted, but no satisfactory result has come out yet.
Finally, Shyam Lal Sharma appealed to the Education Minister to take personal interest in his work. As per the announcement, these lecturers should be promoted as principals soon, otherwise protests will be held. The path of mass struggle will have to be adopted.
