Detectives of the nine-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the incident also found that three of the accused - Manojit Mishra, Pratim Mukherjee and Zaid Ahmed - had a history of sexually harassing female students of the college. While the fourth accused is a security guard of the college.
According to the officer, the trio of accused used to record such incidents on their mobile phones and later use the footage to blackmail the victims. "The entire matter was pre-planned," the police officer said. The three were conspiring to torture the victim for several days. We have found that the victim was being targeted by the main accused from the day she got admitted to the college.’’
The Kolkata Police has started searching for mobile videos allegedly filmed by the trio. “On Sunday, the houses of accused Mukherjee and Ahmed were searched. We are possibly looking for footage related to other incidents,” the officer said.
The investigators also said that a video clip of the alleged rape on June 25 may have been shared by the accused. They said the SIT has prepared a list of over 25 people, mostly students of South Kolkata Law College, who were present at the educational institution on the evening of June 25.
