Hoshiarpur- As part of the campaign launched by the Punjab Government to remove illegal encroachments made by drug smugglers under the war against drugs, Hoshiarpur Police in collaboration with the local civil administration today demolished an illegal construction near Panj Pipli Mandir in Mohalla Bahadurpur of the city.
This illegal construction was made by a person associated with the drug business, which has been demolished on the orders of the civil administration. Giving more information in this regard, SSP Hoshiarpur Sandeep Kumar Malik said that this demolition was done on the request of Municipal Corporation Hoshiarpur, which needed police assistance to demolish this illegal construction.
This action has been taken against Mandeep Singh alias Manu, against whom 9 FIRs are registered and he is currently lodged in jail. He said that most of the cases registered against Mandeep are related to NDPS. He reiterated that on the instructions of the Punjab Government, Hoshiarpur Police will continue to take action against drugs and illegal occupation.
He appealed to the people to inform the police about such illegal activities. He assured that immediate and strict action will be taken against the culprits. He warned the drug smugglers to either give up drug smuggling and do some other work, or be ready for the strictest action.
He said that the local residents are very upset with these smugglers, for which they welcome this action of the Punjab Government. People said that they welcome the efforts being made by the Punjab Government to eliminate drug abuse in the state.
