S.A.S. In his letter, he stressed the need for cleaning and maintenance of stormwater drainage lines in roads and internal lanes, expressing concern that large-scale waterlogging and unhygienic conditions may arise during the monsoon.
Sr. Sharma also mentioned the legal battle he fought in 2013, through which he had ensured the responsibility of the Municipal Corporation to manage the city's sewerage and stormwater systems.
Sr. Atul Sharma informed that in 2013 he had filed a petition in the Permanent Lok Adalat against the GMADA and the Water Supply Department. The court ruled in his favour and ordered the executive engineer of Water Supply and Sanitation Division No. 1 to ensure immediate cleaning and regular maintenance of sewer lines. During the hearing, the municipal corporation too had accepted responsibility for the maintenance of the city's sewerage and stormwater systems.
He further said that in a letter to the municipal commissioner, he has appealed to the municipal corporation to act in the spirit of that court order.
