Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, June 12: Due to the efforts of MLA Kulwant Singh, allottees of Sector 76-80 have got a big relief. Giving a big relief to the allottees who were given notices by GMADA to deposit the enhancement expenses, an agreement was reached to reduce the amount of the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority enhancement. This agreement was reached after a meeting held by MLA Kulwant Singh with GMADA Chief Administrator Vishesh Sarangal. He had been trying to solve this problem of these residents for the last several days.
Giving information today, SAS Nagar MLA S. Kulwant Singh said that the authority had earlier sent notices to the allottees of these sectors to pay enhancement charges at the rate of Rs. 3164/- per square meter, on which the allottees requested to reduce this charge. He said that this matter had been taken up with GMADA earlier also.
S. Kulwant Singh said that after considering this issue, now GMADA has considered reducing the enhancement charges at the rate of Rs. 839/- per square meter. He said that after getting the approval, this will be a big relief for the allottees of sectors 76-80. In addition, no penalty/interest will be charged from the allottees who have not deposited the enhancement amount since the date of issue of the notice and the excess amount will be adjusted/refunded for the allottees who have paid this amount in response to the notices issued.
He said that the previous political leaders are responsible for this financial burden on the residents of these sectors of Mohali. He said that former minister Balbir Sidhu ruled Mohali for 15 years as the MLA of Mohali and did not allow any notices to be issued for political gain, due to which this amount increased 3 times from 2008 to 2025. He said that I have always stood with the people of Mohali and it was my duty to reduce this financial burden on the people of my constituency, as a result of which every allottee benefited lakhs of rupees. He appealed to the residents of Sectors 76 to 80 to deposit this amount as soon as possible so that the interest can be avoided.
