
Special CBI court convicts 5 then police officers in 1993 fake police encounter case

In the first case, on the morning of June 27, a police party led by Inspector Gurdev Singh picked up SPO Shinder Singh, Desa Singh, Sukhdev Singh and Balkar Singh from village Rani Wala (Sri Amritsar Sahib district), after which a team of DSP Bhupinder Singh and police station Sarhali killed SPO Shinder Singh, Desa Singh and Sukhdev Singh in an encounter on July 12.
The second case is from Vairowal police station, in which Harvinder Singh and Sarabjit Singh Sabba were killed in an encounter on July 28 by a police party led by Inspector Raghubir Singh and Suba Singh.
Today, a special CBI court in Mohali has convicted DSP Bhupinder Singh, Inspector Raghubir Singh, Suba Singh, ASI Devinder Singh and Gulbarg Singh under sections 302, 218, 201 and 120 B of the IPC.
It is worth mentioning that a total of 10 police officers were nominated in this case. Out of which, action could not be taken against them due to the death of the rest.
