
Chief Election Commissioner of India , Mr. Gyanesh Kumar , addressed the Stockholm Conference .
Chandigarh , June 11 - Haryana Chief Electoral Officer Mr. Pankaj Agarwal said that in India, the world's largest democracy, the Election Commission conducts elections in a fair and transparent manner in which the Chief Electoral Officers of the states and union territories also play an important role . To get information about the election management of India, a conference was organized by the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance in Stockholm in which the Chief Election Commissioner of India Mr. Gyanesh Kumar gave his address . Apart from this , he held various bilateral talks with representatives of different countries . Along with this, he also met the NRIs living in Sweden .

He said that the CEC reiterated the Election Commission's focus on inclusive participation and civic engagement among the NRIs and overseas citizens of India . He highlighted initiatives like online voter registration system and electronic transmission of postal ballot management system , which are aimed at enabling greater participation from abroad .
Shri Gyanesh Kumar highlighted India's leadership in election management . Over 100 participants representing around 50 countries are participating in the conference , which is being organised by the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance in collaboration with the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, the Swedish Electoral Authority and the Australian Electoral Commission .
He said that the countries where the Chief Election Commissioner of India has interacted with include the Chief Election Commissioners of the United Kingdom , South Africa , Indonesia and Switzerland . The main focus areas include disinformation , digital divide , electoral security , climate-related risks and the role of AI in elections .
The India International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Management , IIDEM, is also emerging as a leading institution for electoral management excellence . He said that the delegation includes Rakesh Verma, Director General of IIIDEM, Vijay Kumar Pandey, Deputy Director General and Rahul Sharma, Principal Secretary, along with senior officials of the Election Commission .
