
Mohali City to emerge as the most beautiful city of the tricity - Dr. Ravjot Singh

He said that following the instructions of Chief Minister Punjab S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, this visit has been specially planned to make Mohali city the best city of the tricity, aiming at finding out the problems being faced by the Municipal Corporation and find the required solutions to them.
According to the Local Government Minister, since Mohali city is controlled by GMADA and the Municipal Corporation, many a problem are related to both the departments, for the solution of which a high-level meeting of the Municipal Corporation and GMADA officials will be called in Chandigarh soon and all these problems will be discussed at length for permanent solution.
The Local Government Minister took detailed information from Municipal Corporation Commissioner Parminder Pal Singh about the income of the corporation, city sanitation, waste and wet management, drinking water, property tax, building plan revenue, constructions going on in the villages included in Mohali MC area, etc.
Additional Principal Secretary of the Local Government Department, Punjab, Tejveer Singh, who was present in the meeting, briefed the Minister Dr Ravjot Singh that in view of the housing projects coming up rapidly in Mohali city, the city is expanding swiftly, for which the existing facilities are falling short. He said that special efforts are being made by the government for the development and beautification of this most preferred city of the state.
During the meeting, the management of garbage in the city's garbage dumps and areas falling in GMADA was also discussed and it was decided to hold a joint meeting of GMADA and MC to resolve this. Taking stock of the mechanical and manual cleaning being done in the city, it was asked to clean the garbage and debris piles lying around the roads along with the cleaning. The Local Government Minister asked the MC authorities to coordinate with the Resident Welfare Associations for the special maintenance of the city's parks and assign this responsibility to them.
Later, Cabinet Minister Dr Ravjot Singh along with MLA, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, S. Kulwant Singh also visited various areas of the city, including RMC points of Mauli Baidwan and Phase 11, Garbage Vulnerable Point of Mataur, review of the road widening from Bawa Fight House to Phase 7, and nature park behind the Punjab School Education Board.
He assured MLA Kulwant Singh that he will soon hold a joint meeting of MC and GMADA in Chandigarh to resolve all the problems related to Mohali city, the biggest of which is traffic, and draw up a special strategy so that Mohali can be promoted as the most beautiful city of Punjab.
Chairman Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board Dr Sunny Singh Ahluwalia, Chairperson of District Planning Committee Prabhjot Kaur, Chairman of Market Committee Mohali Govinder Mittal, senior officials of all branches of the Municipal Corporation were also present.
