Honor Ceremony Held for Punjab’s Para-Athletes

SAS Nagar, June 4- The Cerebral Palsy Sports Society of Punjab organized a grand event at Neighbourhood Park, Phase 11, to honor para-athletes who brought glory to Punjab at the national level. These athletes won medals at the 3rd National Para Swimming Championship held in Nadiad, Gujarat, from October 3-6, 2024, and the 13th Junior and Sub-Junior Para Athletics Championship held in Bengaluru from July 15-17, 2024.

SAS Nagar, June 4- The Cerebral Palsy Sports Society of Punjab organized a grand event at Neighbourhood Park, Phase 11, to honor para-athletes who brought glory to Punjab at the national level. These athletes won medals at the 3rd National Para Swimming Championship held in Nadiad, Gujarat, from October 3-6, 2024, and the 13th Junior and Sub-Junior Para Athletics Championship held in Bengaluru from July 15-17, 2024.
During the honor ceremony, Mangal Singh, Vishal, Tamanna, Kishan, Harmjot Singh, Muskan Malot, Gurjit Kaur, Anushka, Ramandeep Singh, and Balwant Singh were awarded certificates. The presence of young athlete Kismat Kaur added to the grandeur of the event.
The chief guest, Deputy Mayor of the Municipal Corporation, Kuljit Singh Bedi, encouraged the athletes, stating that these players living with cerebral palsy are true examples of courage, determination to win, and self-confidence. Their success shows that no obstacle can stop someone with high morale. These athletes are not only winning medals but also becoming a source of inspiration for everyone.
Praising the society’s efforts, he said that the government and society should provide more opportunities and resources for these athletes so they can achieve greater heights.
Special guests included Gurmail Singh Sidhu (Brampton, Canada) and his wife Sukhinder Kaur Sidhu, Councillor Kulwant Singh Kaler, former Councillor Sukhminder Singh Barnala, social worker Dr. Maninder Kaur Gandhi, Principal Manjit Kaur, Harkamal Singh (Silver Medalist at the 1978 Asian Games and former chief coach of India), athletic coach Babita, Chandar Shekhar, Ajaib Singh (Bakarpur), Gurmit Singh Sial, Balvir Singh Sohal, Manjit Obrai, Chief Engineer D.S. Mann, and Development Officer Satish Kumar Sharma, among others.
