Mock drill held at District Administrative Complex, made people aware to deal with emergency situations

Nawanshahr- The district administration conducted a mock drill at the District Administrative Complex on Saturday evening as a practice, the purpose of which was to tell the people how to protect themselves with full vigilance in the event of any untoward incident and how to stay safe.

On the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh, a mock drill was conducted under the leadership of Additional Deputy Commissioner Rajiv Verma in the presence of officers of various departments. Rajiv Verma said that in view of the tense situation with the neighboring country in the past few days, this mock drill was conducted only as a practice so that people could be made aware to deal with emergency situations.
He said that apart from the officers/employees of the Health Department, Fire Brigade, Police, Civil Defense, Revenue Department, representatives of social organizations of the city and members of trade associations were present at the mock drill. He said that this process was done as a preparation for how to keep ourselves safe if needed in the future.
He said that there is no need to fear or panic about the mock drill as it is a practice and proactive action. The Additional Deputy Commissioner said that a blackout will be conducted in the district from 8:00 pm to 8:15 pm on Saturday night, during which the lights will be completely switched off after the siren is sounded.
He appealed to the people that a siren will be sounded before the blackout, which will also result in a blackout and people should ensure compliance with it. He said that during the blackout, generators, inverters etc. should be kept off and the lights of the cameras should also be turned off. He said that during the blackout, everyone should keep the lights of their homes/shops and establishments switched off.
Police officials appealed to the people to dial the emergency number 112 for information and assistance in any emergency situation, through which information reaches every concerned department. On this occasion, apart from senior officers of the civil and police administration, representatives of various organizations were also present.
