
DRIVE AGAINST CORRUPTION: ASI CARRESTED RED-HANDED BY VIGILANCE BUREAU WHILE TAKING 15,000 BRIBE
HOSHIAPUR- Continuing its drive against corruption in the State, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau today arrested Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Kuldeep Singh posted at Thana, Haryana, Hoshiarpur District red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 15,000.

Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that the arrest was made following a complaint lodged by Robin Kumar, a resident of village Ghagiyal, Hoshiarpur District. The complainant approached the Vigilance Bureau alleging that a police case was registered against him at the said police station and the investigation of the case was assigned to ASI Kuldeep Singh. But before registering the FIR, the said ASI Kuldeep Singh allegedly in connivance with the opposite party lodged a counter case against the complainant, his mother and other family members.
Thereafter, ASI Kuldeep Singh demanded a bribe of Rs 50,000 from the complainant and threatened to implicate his mother in a false case of theft of gold chain if he did not pay the bribe amount.
The complainant informed that on his repeated requests, the deal was finalised for Rs 30,000 and the ASI took Rs 10,000 as the first installment. As per the complaint, the accused ASI demanded the remaining amount of Rs 20,000 as bribe amount and took Rs 5,000 as the second installment. The complainant illegally recorded the conversation on his mobile phone while demanding the remaining amount of bribe amount.
The spokesperson further informed that after preliminary investigation of the complaint, the team of Vigilance Bureau laid a trap and caught the accused ASI Kuldeep Singh red handed while accepting the third installment of Rs 15,000 in the presence of two government witnesses. In this regard, a case has been registered against the accused at Vigilance Bureau Police Station, Jalandhar Range and further investigation in the matter is underway.
