Pakistan will not get India's rightful water: Modi

Bikaner, May 22 - Prime Minister Narendra Modi said here today that Pakistan will not get India's rightful water and if it continues to export terrorists, it will have to face five-fold consequences. India has been saying that the Indus Water Treaty with Pakistan will remain 'suspended' until the neighbouring country stops 'credibly and irrevocably supporting' cross-border terrorism. A day after the Pahalgam terror attack, India had announced several punitive measures against Pakistan, including suspending the Indus Water Treaty.

Addressing a rally in Palana, Modi said that playing with the blood of Indians will cost Pakistan dearly. "If Pakistan continues to 'export' terrorists, it will have to face five-fold consequences," he said. Pakistan will not get the water that India deserves, playing with the blood of Indians will now cost Pakistan dearly.'' Modi said, ''This is India's resolve and no power in the world can sway us from our resolve.'' India and Pakistan signed the Indus Water Treaty in 1960 under the auspices of the World Bank. This agreement provides a framework for the use of water from the Indus River and its tributaries by both countries.
