
Gatka Players Win Seven Medals for Punjab in Khelo India Youth Games - Dr. Rajinder Singh Sohal
SAS Nagar, May 12- Gatka players have secured seven medals for Punjab in the Khelo India Youth Games. Providing details, Dr. Rajinder Singh Sohal, President of the Punjab Gatka Association, stated that this year’s Khelo India Games were organized in Bihar by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and the Sports Authority of India. These games are being held from May 5 to May 15 in various cities of Bihar.

Providing details, Dr. Rajinder Singh Sohal, President of the Punjab Gatka Association, stated that this year’s Khelo India Games were organized in Bihar by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and the Sports Authority of India. These games are being held from May 5 to May 15 in various cities of Bihar.
He informed that under the organization of 28 sports, the gatka event was held in Gaya city from May 5 to 7. A total of 160 players from 19 states participated in this competition, and Punjab’s gatka players delivered an outstanding performance, winning seven medals for Punjab.
He added that in the individual single soti competition, Gursevak Singh won a gold medal, Jasandeep Singh won a silver medal, and in the team free soti competition, Gursevak Singh, Jasandeep Singh, and Robinpreet Singh won a silver medal. In the individual free soti competition, Jagdeep Singh won a silver medal. In the girls’ team, Tamanna won a gold medal in the individual single soti competition, Avneet Kaur won a bronze medal, and Soh Kaur won a bronze medal in the individual free soti competition. He further stated that Punjab’s gatka players secured the overall first position in the Khelo India Youth Games.
Baljinder Singh Toor, General Secretary of the Punjab Gatka Association, said that for many years, the Punjab Gatka Association has been working to promote gatka as a sport. Thanks to the efforts of the Punjab Gatka Association and the Punjab government, it has been possible to win seven medals in a single sport.
He said that a program will soon be organized to honor the winning players, and efforts will continue to improve the players’ performance and provide them with better infrastructure in the future. On this occasion, he especially thanked S. Harcharan Singh Bhullar, President of the Gatka Federation of India, under whose able leadership the Punjab Gatka Association is functioning effectively.
Dr. Sohal congratulated the team’s manager Jaswinder Singh Pabla, coach Madam Inderpreet Kaur, and Harkiranjit Singh, encouraging them to work harder in the future.
