SAS Nagar, May, 6: Following the directions of Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India and State Disaster Management Authority, Punjab, a mock drill will be conducted in Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar district tomorrow afternoon at 2 sites, said District Magistrate, Mrs Komal Mittal, here, today, evening.
Divulging the details, she said that to assess the effectiveness of air raid warning systems, two educational/industrial unit sites would undergo this drill where after simulation of a siren, evacuation exercise will be carried out to save the citizens.
Similarly, in the late hours, at 7:30 pm to 7:40 pm, a blackout would be observed for early camouflaging of vital plants/installations in the district.
She said that District Administration will publicise such sites, where these mock drills would be exercised tomorrow and the General Public of the Particular area would be put on alert before holding such an exercise.
District Magistrate made an appeal to the residents that the drill is aiming to evaluate the preparedness of evacuation plans and their execution, so they do not need to panic rather extend support for the smooth conduct of this exercise.
