
Book fair and Kavi darbar held
Nawanshahr, November 25: Doaba Sahitya Sabha Nawanshahr organized a book fair and kavi darbar in collaboration with Government Senior Secondary School Kariha in the same school. The first session was presided over by prominent militant poet Darshan Singh Khatkar, former Dean of Punjabi University Patiala Dr. Rajinderpal Singh Brar, Dr. Kuldeep Singh Deep, Assistant Editor of Punjabi Tribune Jasvir Samar, story writer Gurmeet Karialvi, President of Indian Defense Committee Canada Iqbal Singh Purewal and Principal Ranjit Kaur. Principal Ranjit Kaur delivered the welcome address.

Renowned story writer Ajmer Singh Sidhu shed light on the life and literature of writer Parminder Kaur Swach and scholars. Dr. Kuldeep Singh Deep, while reading the pamphlet on Parminder Kaur Swach's poetry collection 'Zard Rangana Da Mausam', said that Parminder's poetry keeps the weak and revolutionaries at the center. She presents the pain of the people and exposes the oppression of the oppressed.
Participating in the debate, Dr. Charanjit Kaur, Jasvir Samar and Gurmeet Karialvi made valuable comments. Dr. Rajinderpal Singh Brar, while concluding the debate, said that Swachh's poetry creates a political discourse against the injustices committed at the global level. Giving the keynote address, Darshan Singh Khatkar expressed concern that once upon a time, Punjabi writers used to present world events in poetry, but today it is non-existent. He praised the poetess with reference to Swachh's poem written in favor of Palestine. He said that Parminder's poetry takes a long view of imperialism, capitalism and corporateism. The stage of this session was moderated by Dr. Kewal Ram.
The second session of Kavi Darbar was presided over by Dr. Charanjit Kaur, Simranjit Simi, Ranjit Kaur, Paramjit Kaur, Narinderjit Kaur Khatkar, Kamlesh Kaur and Rajni Sharma. In the Kavi Darbar, Darshan Singh Khatkar, Jaswant Khatkar, Kulwinder Kulla, Paramjit Karyam Rajni Sharma, Balvir Kumar, Dharminder Masani, Ranjit Kaur, Laj Kumari, Alisha and Raj Rani recited very beautiful poems. The stage of this session was conducted by Dr. Kulwinder Kulla.
On this occasion, in the memory of Kewal Kaur, the revolutionary virtuous and editor of Maa Magazine, the Sabha gave the Kewal Kaur Memorial Award to Parminder Kaur Swach. More than a hundred writers and literature lovers including Kulwinder Singh Waraich, Jasbir Deep, Hari Ram Rasulpuri, Balbir Singh Sanawa, Satnam Chahal, Harkinder Musapur, Mandeep Musapur, Gagan Joshi, Deepak Gunachour, Harpreet Kaur, Sara Sidhu, Navraj Singh Sidhu, Kuldeep Singh Boparai, Buta Singh Mahmudpur, Ajay Kumar Chahramjara, Shankar Das, Didar Singh Shetra, Malkiat Singh Swach, Vinay Sharma, Suresh Kumar Chauhan, Anuradha Kariha, Tarsem Bains, Avtar Singh Tari, Sohan Singh Atwal were present at this event.
