
Important issues were discussed in the meeting of Fedsin Punjab.
Nawanshahr, February 15 - The quarterly meeting of the governing body of the Federation of Senior Citizens Association Punjab was held at Baiji Ki Kutiya Pandoran Mohalla, Nawanshahr under the patronage of Federation Chairman SP Karkra (retired IAS officer) and under the chairmanship of Professor RK Kakkar. At the beginning of the meeting, Professor SK Broota, President of Senior Citizens Association Nawanshahr, gave a welcome speech to the office bearers of the Federation and the representatives of various associations of Punjab present in the meeting.

At the beginning of the meeting, Professor SK Broota, President of Senior Citizens Association Nawanshahr, gave a welcome speech to the office bearers of the Federation and the representatives of various associations of Punjab present in the meeting.
Dr. JD Verma welcomed and thanked all the office bearers and representatives of the governing body for attending the meeting. Under the leadership of Professor Omkar Singh of BLM Girls College Nawanshahr, the students of the college sang the prayer of Fedsin 'Dehi Shiva Var Mohi Ihai'. After that, President Harpal Singh Khurmi and Madam Satwant Kaur from Bathinda celebrated the 89th birthday of Federation Chairman SP Karkra by cutting the cake, during which all the members wished him.
After that, Senior Vice President of the Federation Gurdeep Singh Bhogal discussed the difficulties/problems faced by senior citizens, which included making a state policy for senior citizens, increasing old age allowance to Rs 3500 per month, making arrangements for the safety of the elderly as per the notification issued in the year 2014, providing proper health facilities to the elderly, creating a separate directorate for the elderly, building at least one old age home in every district, charging half fare from senior citizens traveling in buses and restoring the facilities given to the elderly by the Railway Department in train fares, which were stopped during the Covid period.
Apart from this, representatives of various associations also presented their views on the problems faced by the elderly and decisions were taken to hold a meeting with government representatives to resolve them. In the meeting, the book 'Aahaar, Rog Evam Rog Nivaran' written by Dr. Hari Mitra Khosla was released. Along with this, the quarterly magazine 'Fedcin Punjab' (October-24 December) published by the Federation was also released.
The arrangements made by Senior Citizens Association Nawanshahr were highly appreciated by all the representatives and the governing body. On this occasion, Executive President of Fedcin Punjab Inderjit Singh Chopra, General Secretary Joginder Singh Madan, all members of the governing body, representatives of 19 associations, General Secretary of Senior Citizens Association Nawanshahr SK Puri and all members of the executive committee were present.
