Old vehicles should be removed from roads: Dhankhar

New Delhi, May 3 - Expressing concern over the increasing air pollution in the national capital, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar has called for the rapid removal of old vehicles from the roads as well as the promotion of the use of public transport. He said that the worrying thing is that we are not serious about the increasing air pollution.

Addressing the National Conference of the Indian Association for Bronchology here, Dhankhar said, 'We are facing challenges due to climate change but we do not have another planet to live on. Everyone thinks that this is someone else's job but this is everyone's job. We need to remove old vehicles from the roads quickly. People have to understand that old vehicles should be abandoned for these reasons that they harm our health.
The Vice President also called for maximum use of public transport. He said, 'We should be proud to use public transport. Therefore, our ego should not come in the way. This is done in many countries and here too the safest, fastest, surest way to reach the airport is by metro and we should make the metro a part of our daily life.
