Patiala: Basant Ritu Youth Club Tripuri Patiala has been providing free eye lens operations to needy people every month for the last three years.
Regarding this, Club President Eng. Aakrish Sharma and Club Founder Rajesh Sharma Ramtatwali said that this camp is held every month at Dukhniwaran Sahib in front of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Eye Hospital. Dr. Asha Pritpal Kaur Eye Surgeon performs operations and free medicines and glasses are also given to the patients. The club has set a target of conducting operations on about four needy people. If more patients come than this, then more operations are conducted.
People from states outside Punjab are also coming to the monthly camp and taking advantage of this service. The club has been running a service for the past three years and has performed free lens surgeries on more than 200 people.
Club General Secretary Amrish Kumar and Club Chairman Ram Ji Das also expressed their views and said that the patients who are poor and do not have the money to travel are also given money and the surgeries are also done.
They also said that the shopkeepers of Tripri Bazaar and club members have a valuable contribution in this service. Dharmendra Kumar, Mukesh Kumar, Meharwan Singh Mago, Harjit Singh, Santosh Lagwani, Surinder Singh Hasanpur etc. were present on this occasion.
