Adequate arrangements of tarpaulin made for storage of wheat in mandis due to bad weather: Deputy Commissioner.

SAS Nagar, May 2, 2025: Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal said that the process of government procurement of wheat is going on smoothly in the district and payment of Rs 254.76 crore for wheat has been deposited in the accounts of farmers.

SAS Nagar, May 2, 2025: Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal said that the process of government procurement of wheat is going on smoothly in the district and payment of Rs 254.76 crore for wheat has been deposited in the accounts of farmers.
He said that 102 percent of the wheat purchased in the district so far has been paid to the farmers within 48 hours. The Deputy Commissioner informed that proper arrangements of tarpaulin etc. have been made by the market committees, all procurement agencies, arhtiyas and farmers in all the procurement centers to protect the wheat from getting wet due to bad weather and there has been no major damage to the wheat due to rain.
Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Komal Mittal informed that so far 1,31,120 metric tonnes of wheat has arrived in the mandis of the district, out of which 100 percent procurement has been done, out of which 76 percent wheat has been lifted. He informed that 30,886 metric tons of wheat has been procured by Pangrain, 24,270 metric tons by Markfed, 24,957 metric tons by Punsup, 15,585 metric tons by Punjab State Warehouse Corporation and 15,585 metric tons by FCI. 10,382 metric tons of wheat has been procured by the government and 25,240 metric tons by traders.
The Deputy Commissioner said that now the Rabi season is moving towards its final stage, due to which government procurement agencies have been instructed to lift wheat as soon as possible.
He said that similar effective services will be provided to the farmers till the end of the wheat procurement season and farmers will not be allowed to face any kind of problem in any market of the district.
