Nawanshahr- Wheat procurement in the mandis of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district has crossed 2 lakh metric tonnes. Giving this information, Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh said that 13750 metric tonnes of wheat arrived in the grain mandis of the district today. He said that all the 210558 metric tonnes of wheat that has arrived in the grain mandis of the district so far has been procured.

The Deputy Commissioner said that so far 50914 metric tonnes have been procured by Pangrain, 52398 metric tonnes by Markfed, 52323 metric tonnes by Punsup, 33003 metric tonnes by Punjab State Warehouse Corporation, 16728 metric tonnes by FCI and 5192 metric tonnes by traders. He said that Rs 492.11 crore has been paid to the farmers for the procured crop.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the district administration has made strong arrangements in all the mandis to complete the wheat procurement season smoothly and uninterruptedly. He said that instructions have also been given to speed up the lifting work. He appealed to the farmers to bring only dry wheat to the mandis to make the procurement smooth and uninterrupted and not to burn the wheat stubble and residue.
